I came across Cameron Chapman’s blog where she compiled more than 100 terrific websites for ways to live green. I’m sharing this with you as much as I’m archiving it for my own use, because Cameron has done an incredible job of researching these resources. AND, she’s only missing one of the most important water conservation sites out there: Water – Use It Wisely.

In the interest of full disclosure, we launched the Water – Use It Wisely campaign in 2000, and it has grown to be the largest global educational outreach program of its kind with more than 400 private and public partners using the program.

We also launched a major social media initiative with a new website in celebration of the campaign’s 10th anniversary. Join us on our blog, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Flickr and Friend Feed.

Green Goods from Recycled Inner Tubes, Billboard Vinyl, Fire Hose & Yacht Sails

Ok, so since it’s already Christmas eve, you might consider these green gifts for your New Years resolution. These are some of the coolest green items going. Like handbags created from bicycle inner tubes, portfolios from old Coca Cola billboard vinyl, messenger totes from recycled fire hose, and bags from yacht sails. Salvagist.com is filled with these hip and handy items created from the oddest stuff, which keeps the castaway material out of landfills.

To date, the company’s site reports that its vendors have kept more than 100 tons of billboard vinyl, over 19 tons of rubber tire inner tubes and over 15,000 feet of bicycle inner tubes from being disposed of in our world’s landfills.

What I like about the Salvagist is the inventive use of materials that you wouldn’t normally associate with personal items. We purchased a couple of these for our fairly fashion-conscious daughter for Christmas, and it will be fun to see how they are received. I’ll fill you in later.
